Nittany Lions Push Past West Virginia, 4-0, to Begin Spring Soccer Action

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Rising sophomore Danielle Toney (Northville, Mich.) scored three of the Nittany Lions' four goals in a 4-0 shutout of visiting West Virginia in spring action. All-American rising junior Katie Schoepfer (Waterford, Conn.) scored PSU's fourth goal and 2008 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and All-American goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher (Seymour, Conn.) pitched a spring shutout vs. the Mountaineers.

Maryland-native Zoe Bouchelle (Cockeysville, Md.) and Melissa Hayes (Cave Creek, Ariz.) continued to play big roles in the midfield for Penn State, and Jessie Davis (Fairfax, Va.) contributed with her huge senior leadership.

After the game, over 100 area youth were on hand for a free clinic with the Penn State coaching staff and players.

The 10-time defending Big Ten champion Nittany Lions see spring action next in Richmond, Va. vs. Virginia on March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
