Personett Honored As Big Ten Women's Gymnast of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State sophomore women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big Ten Women's Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced today. It is the fourth career weekly honor for Personett and the third this season as she was also honored on Jan. 23 and Feb. 13.

Personett helped the Nittany Lions to their highest team score of the year (195.725) as she posted a career-high 39.525 in the all-around last weekend, Penn State's highest all-around score since the 2003 season. She recorded a second-place 9.875 on vault, a fourth-place 9.850 on bars, a first-place and career-high 9.900 on beam and a first-place 9.900 on floor, her eighth first-place finish on floor this year and her ninth floor score of 9.900 or better this season.

Currently Personett is ranked ninth in the nation on floor with an average of 9.910 and is tied for 23rd in the country on vault with an average of 9.880. She is also 17th in the country in the all-around with an average of 39.330.

Penn State travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday for the Big Ten Championships, slated for 2:15 p.m. at Crisler Arena. The Big Ten Network will broadcast the event on a tape-delay basis, airing the Championships on Thursday, April 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
