Penn State Women's Tennis to Visit the Wolverines and Spartans

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - After two back-to-back losses to Big Ten foes Purdue and Illinois, the Penn State women's tennis team (7-10, 1-5 Big Ten) hopes to snap its four-game losing streak this weekend when they travel to Michigan.

The Nittany Lions hosted Purdue and then No. 62 Illinois last weekend, falling 4-3 to both teams. Junior Leyla Morzan (Vancouver, B.C.) and sophomore Lauren McCarthy (Danbury, Conn.) highlighted the weekend for Penn State each earning singles wins both days. McCarthy defeated Purdue's Anna Dzeva (6-2, 6-3) and Illinois' Shivani Dave (7-5, 3-6, 10-7). Morzan took down Purdue's Alejandra Boeker (6-1, 6-3) and Illinois' Momei Qu (4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8).

Penn State will face the No. 26 Michigan Wolverines (13-4, 6-1 Big Ten) on Saturday, April 12. The Wolverines are currently on an 11-game win streak with their most recent win coming against Michigan State. The Wolverines, who visited East Lansing April 9, downed the Spartans 6-1.

On Sunday, April 13, the Nittany Lions will face the No. 59 Michigan State Spartans. The Spartans (12-9, 3-4 Big Ten) fell to the Wolverines this week. Stephanie Kelder earned the Spartans sole point against Michigan. The Spartans have earned conference wins against Iowa, Minnesota and Purdue.

Both matches are set to begin at 11 a.m. Live Stats will be available if indoors at Michigan at www.mgoblue.com and Michigan State at www.msuspartans.cstv.com. The Nittany Lions will host their final home match the weekend of April 18. Penn State will face Indiana at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18 and Ohio State on Sunday, April 20 at 11 a.m.
