UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Assistant Coach Ann Cook spent spring break in Granada, Nicaragua, with a group from Soccer Without Borders. Soccer Without Borders is a nonprofit organization based in Oakland, Calif. that uses soccer as a tool for youth development around the world.
Currently, the organization supports projects in Africa, Asia and Central America that seek to build sustainable programs that "help young people come into a greater understanding of their bodies, voices, minds and communities" and give them a better chance at a healthy and successful future.
More information regarding the organization and their efforts around the world can be found at www.soccerwithoutborders.org.
Penn State players ran a shoe drive in the weeks leading up to spring break, and thanks to their generosity about 50 girls in Nicaragua now have new shoes and a new passion for soccer!
