Penn State Swimming & Diving Yearbook Named 2008 Swimming World Magazine Media Guide of the Year

April 22, 2008

University Park, Pa. - Penn State's 2008 Swimming & Diving Yearbook, a combined publication for both the men's and women's programs, was named the winner of the second annual Swimming World Magazine Media Guide of the Year contest, it was announced recently by Swimming World Magazine.

Swimming World Magazine, a publication devoted to all levels of swimming all around the world, sponsors a three-part series of awards honoring the work of swimming publicists around the country, and in its Media Guide of the Year contest, the Penn State guide claimed top honors.

The 2007-08 Penn State Swimming & Diving media guide was a production of the Penn State Athletic Communications office. Athletic Communications Assistant Matt Beltz was responsible for compilation, writing, layout, editing and some of the design work of the publication. Assistant Athletic Director Jeff Nelson serves as the executive editor of all Penn State Athletic Communications publications while Assistant Athletic Communications Director Brian Siegrist did the rest of the design work as well as the design of the covers. Theprinters.com also assisted with the cover design. Photos were provided by Mark Selders, campus photography, Amber Walser, Rob McConaughy and Dave Cochrane, while Jostens printed the guide.

The Penn State guide emerged as the most well-rounded and deepest publication of all of those publications submitted for the contest. The guide was one of just five nationally that earned a "superior" distinction. There were three different distinctions: superior, outstanding and excellent, with superior being the highest.
