Former Nittany Lions Returning to Campus to Coach at Senior Camp

UNiVERSITY PARK, PA. - Sixteen former Penn State football players are returning to campus this weekend to assist the Nittany Lion coaching staff with the Senior Camp.

The fourth year camp, for 2008 high school seniors, is being held today and Saturday on the University Park campus. The fifth Penn State Football Camp of the summer, an offense / defense skills and fundamentals camp, runs June 22-25 for athletes entering 8th-12th grade in the fall.

Most of the 16 former Nittany Lions returning to work the camp this weekend are head or assistant high school and college football coaches. They are:

- Tom Bill (Assistant coach at Hunterdon Central (N.J.) HS)
- Darryl Bullock (Assistant coach at North Carolina Central University)
- Stan Clayton (Assistant coach at University of Toledo)
- Steve Davis (Assistant coach at St. Thomas More (Conn.) Academy)
- Troy Davis (Assistant head coach at Hargrave Military Academy (Va.))
- Matt Evancho (Head coach at Saucon Valley (Pa.) HS)
- Aaron Harris (Assistant coach at University of Delaware)
- George Landis (Head coach at Central Dauphin East (Pa.) HS)
- Joe Markiewicz (Assistant coach at Steel Valley (Pa.) HS)
- Pat Monroe (Head coach at South Allegheny (Pa.) HS)
- Dave Opfar (Head coach at St. Francis University)
- Dan Radakovich (Recently retired assistant head coach at Robert Morris University and former Penn State assistant)
- Andrew Richardson (Assistant coach at Robert Morris University)
- Patrick Weber (Assistant coach at Morris Knolls (N.J.) HS)

The other Penn State lettermen returning to assist at the camp include: Tom Cherry and Stu Helgeson. Also on the camp staff are a pair of former Penn State Football graduate assistant coaches, Bob Forgrave, the head coach at Hempfield High School, and Chris Sprague, an assistant coach at Lock Haven University.

There were more than 60 Penn Staters coaching in high school, college or professional football during the 2007 season.

Coaches from several other college and universities are assisting the Penn State staff with the Senior Camp, including: Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Columbia, Franklin & Marshall, Lafayette, New Hampshire and Stony Brook.

Close to 3,000 high school players from across the nation are attending Penn State's 34th annual summer football camps this month.
