Freshman Archambault In First Place After Second Round At The Brickyard Collegiate Championship

Macon, Ga. - Freshman Nick Archambault (St-Jean-Sur-Rich, Q.C., Canada) shot back-to-back even par (70) rounds to top the individual leader board. Archambault is currently in first place after two rounds of The Brickyard Collegiate Championship in Macon, Georgia.

Archambault's performance helped Penn State to improve from sixth to fifth place with a second round 285 and a 36-hole total of 22-over par. Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Georgia all top the team leader board tied for first at 17-over par (577).

"Nick played another impressive round," said head coach Greg Nye. "His ball striking was excellent and he kept his composure throughout 18 holes. Nick is going to have an exciting day tomorrow playing some of the best players in the country. It will be a great learning experience for him. We hope he comes out tomorrow with a performance that he is proud of."

Junior Kevin Foley (Sommerville, N.J.) also sits in the top 20 of the individual scores tied for eighth at four-over par. Foley improved by two strokes shooting a 71 second-day score and a 36-hole total of four-over par (144).

Other scores for the Nittany Lions include junior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) who fired a one-under par second-round 69 and a 36-hole total of seven-over par (147). Sophomore Tommy McDonagh (Wilton, Conn.) finished with a two-round total at 11-over par (151). Senior Matt Leon (Ontario, Canada) concluded second-day play with a 77 and a 36-hole total at 22-over par (162).

Action will continue at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. Awards will follow the conclusion of play.
