University Park, Pa. - Penn State junior women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced. It is the fifth career honor for Personett and the first of the season for a Nittany Lion women's gymnast.
Personett captured all four event titles, the all-around crown and the Ann Carr Award as the most inspirational gymnast of the meet in Penn State's win over Michigan State Saturday night at Rec Hall. Personett recorded a career-high 39.575, the seventh-highest individual all-around score in Penn State history, to take the title. She also posted a season-high 9.925 on vault, a career-high-tying 9.875 on bars, a season-high 9.850 on beam and a season-high 9.925 on floor.
The Nittany Lions travel to Nebraska on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7:00 p.m. before returning home to host its first quad meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 7. Penn State welcomes Cornell, Penn and William & Mary to Rec Hall at 7:00 p.m.
