UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 14, 2009 - Penn State alumni and fans in metropolitan New York City are invited to "An Evening With Joe Paterno" on Thursday, April 30.
The Hall of Fame coach will participate in the reception and program at the New York City landmark, the Plaza, located at Fifth Avenue at Central Park South. The reception of hors d'oeuvres and cocktails will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program at 7:30 p.m. A silent auction and raffle to support Penn State scholarships will also take place.
The event is co-sponsored by the Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association.
Reservations are required and tickets are $150.00 per person for Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association members and $175.00 for non-members. Anyone interested in tickets for the event should contact the Alumni Association at 800-548-LION (5466) or click here.

Paterno is entering his 44th season as head coach of the Nittany Lions. The Hall of Fame mentor has earned a 383-127-3 record, is the career leader for victories among major college coaches and is third among active coaches with a 74.9 winning percentage. The only coach ever to win the Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton and Fiesta Bowls, he has led the Nittany Lions to five undefeated, untied seasons, two national championships and 23 bowl victories. Paterno also has guided Penn State to three Big Ten Championships, including two in the past four years.
Paterno has coached 76 first team All-Americans, including defensive end Aaron Maybin and center A.Q. Shipley, in 2008. He also has coached 41 Academic All-Americans, including four first team members in 2008 -- Gerald Cadogan, Josh Hull, Andrew Pitz and Mark Rubin.
