Trio of Penn State Football Video Productions Nominated for Global Media Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Three Penn State Football video productions have been nominated for the first annual Global Media Award for College Sports, including the Sports Video of the Year.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Sports Video Group (SVG) recently announced the nominees. The awards celebrate excellence across the entire spectrum of college sports video production, including work by colleges and universities, national and regional sports networks and technology innovators.

The winners, chosen by a panel of sports video production experts, will be named at a ceremony at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta on Tuesday, June 9. The Global Media Awards takes place on the first evening of the Inaugural College Sports Video Summit (June 9-10), an event dedicated to advancing the creation, production and distribution of college sports video content.

Penn State Football video productions are nominated in three categories:

- Outstanding Highlight Package (Getting it Done in Prime Time-Ohio State game Penn State Football Story)
- Outstanding Promotional Video (Cow Bell/Penn State Football Story)
- Sports Video of the Year (We Will and the Illinois game Penn State Football Story).

Penn State's entries will be competing against ESPN, CBS College Sports and numerous colleges and universities in the three categories.

Penn State's three nominees were submitted by Mind Over Media, producers of the Emmy-award winning The Penn State Football Story and Penn State Basketball Story. The Penn State Football Story and Penn State Basketball Story have won more than 25 regional Emmy Awards from the Mid-Atlantic, New York and Suncoast Chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences through the years. The Penn State Football Story won the 2007-08 regional Emmy Award for "Outstanding Sports Program Series" from the New York Chapter of the NATAS.

Critically acclaimed, The Penn State Football Story captures the closeness between players, coaches and staff that is vital in Penn State maintaining its position as one of the nation's premier football programs. The program airs every week during the Nittany Lions' football season throughout Pennsylvania and regional sports cable networks and channels across the nation, including YES Network in New York City.

Mike Messner is the producer and director of The Penn State Football Story and Penn State Basketball Story, which offers an inside look at the Nittany Lion basketball program. Michael Weber is a producer/director and Guy Junker is the writer and narrator for both programs, which are produced in cooperation with Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics.
