UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Nittany Lion women's tennis coach Dawna Prevette announced today the addition of Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) to the 2009 recruiting class. She joins Amy Simidian (Carlstadt, N.J.) and Sarah Henderson (Auckland, New Zealand) as members of this year's recruiting class and will begin their Nittany Lion careers in the fall of 2009.
"We are ecstatic have Petra as part of the Nittany Lion family," Prevette said. "Her tenacity on court is incredible and she is a great ball striker."
Januskova is also a Canadian standout as she has finished in the Top 5 in both doubles and singles every year since 2004, peaking at second in both doubles and singles in 2005. The native of Ottawa, Canada, has won three national titles in doubles. Januskova is currently fourth in singles and sixth in doubles on the Rogers Canadian Rankings. She has represented Canada in the U14 World Junior Qualifiers in Mexico. She has also been a member of the Canadian contingent in tournaments in Europe and the United States.
