STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Six members of the Penn State Nittany Lion lacrosse team have been named to the ECAC Lacrosse League All-ECAC Academic Team. Head coach Glenn Thiel's squad comprises nearly 14 percent of the league's academic honorees.
Penn State's honorees are (alphabetically) sophomore Will Donley (Pittsburgh, Pa.), sophomore Alex Garrity (South Setauket, N.Y.), junior Kevin Joyce (Montclair, N.J.), senior Jordan Kolb (Lancaster, Pa.), sophomore Matt Shankoff (Flemington, N.J.) and sophomore Colton Vosburgh (Kennett Square, Pa.).
Donley sported a 3.89 grade point average this year and had two points in 14 games played. Garrity had a 3.50 GPA and had three points in 14 games. Joyce played in 12 games this campaign and had a 3.23 GPA. Kolb was one of Penn State's face-off specialists, posting a .547 winning percentage (41 of 75) and a 3.32 GPA. Shankoff, with a 3.72 GPA, played in 13 games and had an assist and 18 ground balls. Vosburgh was fifth on the team in scoring with 17 points off ten goals and seven assists and had a 3.50 GPA.
The Nittany Lions ended the year with a 9-5 overall record and were ranked No. 16 in the final USILA Coaches Poll.
