UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's tennis team has been honored as an ITA All-Academic Team for the 2008-2009 season. In addition, recent graduate Leyla Morzan (Vancouver, British Columbia) and sophomore Kristen Roth (Ardmore, Pa.) represented Penn State as ITA Scholar Athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom last year.
"I am extremely proud of our team and the academic success that they have earned," said head coach Dawna Prevette. "It is quite an honor to be recognized and I know this will be a constant goal for us."
To be eligible for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.0 scale. ITA Scholar Athletes must be varsity letter winners with a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
Morzan graduated in May with a business degree. Roth, a triple-major in Communication Arts & Sciences, Spanish and International Studies, maintained a 3.93 GPA throughout her freshman year.
