Chicago and Rome, Pa.; - Beaver Valley Cable Co., serving approximately 1,000 customers in Bradford and Susquehanna counties, announced today that it has reached agreement to carry the Big Ten Network. The Big Ten Network is a national network dedicated exclusively to Big Ten Conference television programming. The announcement was made today by Beaver Valley President Douglas Soden and Big Ten Network President Mark Silverman.

In making the announcement, Soden said the cable system believes the network, dedicated to showcasing the nation's premier athletic and academic conference, will be an instant hit with Penn State fans in the area. "We're really very pleased that our customers are able to get the Big Ten Network," Soden continued. "Northeast Pennsylvania is obviously Big Ten country, and I expect the Big Ten Network to become a popular destination for our customers very, very quickly."

Silverman said, "When Beaver Valley Cable subscribers tune in to the network, they'll find unparalleled coverage of Big Ten sports and their teams, an increasing amount of original programming about football and basketball and shows featuring entertaining stories about what's happening at their favorite universities."

Beaver Valley Cable will launch the Big Ten Network today on channel 96 for customers in Bradford and Susquehanna counties.

The Big Ten Network is airing at least four Penn State football games this season, including Saturday's clash with Temple (12:00 p.m.), as well as at least one conference game.

The Big Ten Network is the first nationally distributed network dedicated to covering one of the premier collegiate conferences in the country. With approximately 350 live events, and nearly all of them in high definition, the network is the ultimate destination for Big Ten fans and alumni across the country, allowing them to see their favorite teams, regardless of where they live.

The network operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, showcasing a wide array of classic-to-current sports and televising more Olympic sporting events and women's sports than has ever been aired on any other network. Original programming highlights activities and accomplishments of some of the nation's finest universities. Each year, the network offers between 35 and 40 football games, 105 regular season men's basketball games; 55 women's basketball games; dozens of Big Ten Championship events; Big Ten Tonight, a nightly studio show; coaches' shows; and classic games.
