UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey goalkeeper Ali Meves will appear on the Big Ten Network's Women's Show on Monday night (Oct. 12) at 10 p.m. The first-year starter, who has come up big in two recent upsets of ranked opponents, looks back to those games and ahead to Tuesday's showdown with Bucknell.
The Nittany Lions are in the midst of their longest homestand of the season, four games. They are 2-1 thus far including dramatic wins over No. 18 Ohio State and No. 14 Stanford. Meves made 11 saves against the Buckeyes, including a number of sensational stops late in the game to force overtime. She was recognized for her efforts by being named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, Penn State's first of the season.
Meves followed that performance with six stops against No. 14 Stanford to hand the Cardinal only their second loss of the season. The two-game winning streak marked the first of her career.
The Big Ten leader in saves (73) and save percentage (.768), Meves was strong once again with seven stops in a narrow 3-2 defeat to No. 18 Northwestern on Friday.
Penn State hosts Bucknell on Tuesday in its final game of the homestand. Gametime is set for 6 p.m. Check back to GoPSUsports.com for a complete preview as the Nittany Lions renew one of their longest-standing rivalries.
