The Nittany Lions completed their fall tournaments with a fourth place finish at the Spider Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond. Penn State was led by senior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.), who had her best finish of this season with a tie for 10th place.
Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) has led the team thus far with her 77.3 stroke per round average. Ransone has also recorded the best single round on the team with a first round score of 71 in the Nittany LIon Invitational. She also was the Nittany Lion Invitational champion.
Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) leads upperclassmen with her 79.1 strokes per round.
The team put together it's best finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational, earning second place in the home tournament. Their fourth place effort at the Spider Invitational was the next best team finish.
The women's golf team will continue action in the spring when they head to San Juan, P.R., for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. This tournament will be hosted by Purdue and will take place on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, February 7, 8 and 9.
