No. 22 Women's Soccer Readies for NCAA Selection Show Tonight at 8 p.m.

Nov. 9, 2009

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's soccer team will learn its NCAA Tournament destination Monday night when the 64-team field is released. The bracket will be revealed on ESPNews at 8:00 p.m. and will let the No. 22 Nittany Lions, who moved up to ninth in the latest Soccer America poll, who their first round opponent will be.

Penn State (12-5-2, 8-1-1 Big Ten) garnered the Big Ten Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament Friday night when Ohio State lost to Michigan State. On Sunday, the Nittany Lions defeated Michigan 2-0 to lock up its lone stake to the trophy and enter the NCAA Tournament on a nine-game unbeaten streak.

The Nittany Lions' remarkable season has seen Penn State make a few ups and downs as the team began September in the top 10 in the national polls. After a three-game losing streak, which dropped the squad to 2-4 overall, PSU bounced back in terrific fashion, polishing off a 10-1-2 mark after Sept. 13. Since that date, Penn State has out-scored it opponents by a staggering 33-8 mark in the 13 games, a nearly plus two-goal per game average.

The Nittany Lions will gather tonight to watch the show together, marking the 14th-straight time Penn State has garnered a bid to the NCAA Tournament. A full post-Selection Show recap will be posted on GoPSUsports.com immediately afterwards with opponent and site of the first round game, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13.
