Nov. 19, 2009

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior standout Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) has been invited back to the 35th annual Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic for the second consecutive year. The Golf Classic, hosted by the Sun Bowl Association has been ranked No. 1 in the country for five years according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. The tournament will take place Nov. 22-24 at the par-71, 6,837-yard El Paso Country Club in El Paso, Texas.

"Kevin is excited to be returning to play in the All American hosted by the Sun Bowl Association," said head coach Greg Nye. "Last year Kevin's play was outstanding, as was Mark Leon's back in 2005."

Along with the tournament championship title other forms of competition will take place during the tournament including the Titleist Long Drive competition and the PING putting contest. Foley returns to El Paso as the defending PING putting contest champion where he carded a 19, the only score that broke 20 on the nine-hole putting among last year's field.

At last year's tournament Foley tied for sixth with rounds of 72-69-70 (211), finishing at 2-under par, four strokes back from tournament champion Mike Can Sickle of Marquette.

Foley joins 32 All-Americans from the previous year in the largest field the tournament has ever seen. Also in attendance is the 2009 NCAA Division I Player of the Year Matt Hill of North Car. State, Freshman of the Year Morgan Hoffman of Oklahoma State and six Golfweek preseason first team All-American selections- Hill, Hoffman, Nick Taylor (Washington), Russell Henley (Georgia), John Peterson (LSU) and Scott Langley (Illinois).

"Whenever we have a player in the All-American it is a big plus for our program, and when they achieve like they have it sends a message that Penn State is a place where you can get it done," said Nye.

Each university represented in the field will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
