UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Under the direction of head coach Robin Petrini and her staff, the Penn State softball team announced Wednesday that it will host a winter skills clinic on Jan. 17. The softball skills clinic is targeted to players in grades 9 through 12.
The clinch is intended to give athletes and opportunity to improve their skills under the tutelage of the Penn State coaching staff, which has guided the Nittany Lions to seven NCAA Tournament appearances this decade. The clinic will focus on both offensive and defensive aspects of the games in addition to pitching instruction.
This is the first year the clinic will be hosted by Penn State, and to ensure a personalized experience for all, only 60 participants will be accepted. So far, interest is high and the clinic is expected to be sold out. All players attending the camp will receive one-on-one coaching from the staff members as well as student-athletes from the Nittany Lion softball squad.
The clinic will run from Noon to 5 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the Multi-Sport Facility at Penn State University. The Multi-Sport Facility is located south of the Bryce Jordan Center off Dauer Drive, which connects University Drive and Porter Road. All registrants are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m. to check in with the coaching staff.

The Nittany Lion softball team kicks off its campaign on Feb. 12, 2010 when Penn State takes on UTEP and Colorado State at the Hotel Encanto Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. First pitch will be Noon MT (2:00 p.m. Eastern).
