PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Penn State women's swimming and diving team wrapped up a stellar effort on Saturday by sweeping three opponents at the Pittsburgh quad meet. The squad came back from a deficit against the host Panthers for a 194-156 win while maintaining its Friday leads over Maryland (185-168) and Villanova (276-77).

Saturday's results were similar to Friday's with freshman Amy Modglin (Fort Myers, Fla.) winning an event while the Nittany Lions finished 1-2-3 in another. This time, Modglin placed first in a pair, the 200 IM (2:4.44) and 200 backstroke (1:57.49). The backstroke mark topped the previous Trees Pool record by over a second and was also good for an "NCAA B" time. The IM saw senior Lyndsey Smith (Westminster, Md.) come in second (2:05.12) and freshman Merritt Krawczyk (Kingwood, Texas) finish third (2:06.71).

The Lions placed second in five other races, including both relays. Seniors Michelle Myers (Boalsburg, Pa.) and Kailey Morris (Baltimore, Md.) were second in the 50 and 200 freestyle with times of 23.74 and 1:51.89, respectively. Morris posted a second runner-up finish, in the 200 butterfly (2:03.11)

For the second straight day, junior Ilana Zeises (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) led Penn State in diving action. She placed sixth in the three-meter with a score of 227.70.

The Nittany Lions return to action on Jan. 29 as they face Ohio State, Michigan and Northwestern in Columbus, Ohio.
