COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Penn State women's swimming & diving team wrapped up an impressive showing at Ohio State on Saturday with a 176-158 win over the No. 28 Buckeyes. Senior Lyndsey Smith (Westminster, Md.) posted two "NCAA B" times for the second straight day to up her weekend (and season) total to four. The Nittany Lions improve to 6-2 on the season while ending Ohio State's bid for its first undefeated dual season in program history.

The Buckeyes entered their senior meet with a 6-0 record, with Penn State as the only hurdle in between them and school history. The Lions enjoyed one of their most impressive meets of the season, with three "NCAA B" times on Saturday to finish the weekend with seven, this coming after nine the entire season entering the meet.

For the second straight day, Smith swam to season-best and "NCAA B" times in each of her two individual races. One came in the 100 breaststroke, where her time of 1:02.92 is among the top 10 marks in Penn State history. The other was in the 200 IM (2:01.48). The Nittany Lions finished 1-2-3-4 in that race, with freshmen Amy Modglin (Fort Myers, Fla.) and Merritt Krawczyk (Kingwood, Texas) along with senior Daphne Skelos (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) right behind Smith. Modglin narrowly missed a B time as well, finishing in 2:02.49.

A day after posting an "NCAA B" mark in the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Michelle Myers (Boalsburg, Pa.), Samantha Palser (Chester Springs, Pa.), Lindsey DeForrest (Wycombe, Pa.) and Paige Whitmire (Lederach, Pa.) did the same on Saturday, but in the 200 freestyle relay. They finished in first with a time of 1:32.42.

A number of other second place finishes included Palser in the 100 freestyle (51.01), senior Stephanie Roop (Dowingtown, Pa.) in the 500 freestyle (4:54.00), Myers in the 100 backstroke (56.09) and junior Alexandra Young (Carmel, Ind.) in the 100 butterfly (56.28).

Sophomore Meg Alderman (Arlington, Va.) had a strong showing in three-meter diving, posting the Lions' top score of 237.70.

Penn State returns home for its final dual meet of the season next Saturday against Lehigh. The meet will start at 1 p.m. with a brief ceremony beforehand to honor the seven Nittany Lion seniors.
