Women's Soccer Unveils 2010 Spring Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--The Penn State women's soccer team announced its Spring 2010 slate of games on Monday, which will feature four matches in Happy Valley as well as a game against WPS club Philadelphia Independence. The Lions will open play on Saturday, Feb. 27 against West Virginia.

Holuba Hall will once again host Penn State women's soccer for part of the spring season as the Nittany Lions will play against West Virginia at 5:30 p.m. on February 27. Holuba Hall, which serves as the main indoor practice facility for the PSU football and lacrosse teams, is one of the largest indoor venues in collegiate athletics.

Penn State travels to Richmond, Va. for the Jefferson Cup on March 20, taking on ACC foe Virginia Tech. Game time will be announced at a later date. April Fools Day will see the Lions trek to the United Sports Training Complex in Downingtown, Pa., taking on Women's Professional Soccer expansion side Philadelphia Independence.

Two weeks later, Penn State returns home, hosting a jamboree of games at the Jeffrey Field Training Complex. PSU will take on the Penn Quakers at 1:00 p.m. in a 90-minute game, while Pittsburgh plays Penn in a 60-minute match at 3:00 p.m. The day will wrap up with a 60-minute 4:00 p.m. game between Pitt and Penn State.

The Nittany Lions wrap up the spring schedule against Maryland on Friday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m. The game, hosted at the Training Complex, will take place as part of Blue-White Weekend, which features the Penn State Football Spring Game the following day in Beaver Stadium.
