Dorr and Greaves Earn Top 10 Finishes On Day One Of Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.: February 12, 2010 - Nittany Lion standouts Fawn Dorr (Akron, N.Y.), and Shavon Greaves (Lakewood, N.J.) both impressed against some of the nation's top sprint competition, Friday at the Tyson Invitational at Randal Tyson Track Center, on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Action at Tyson continues tomorrow with many Nittany Lions still left to compete.

Greaves, who is only a junior, would hold her own in an elite field, running 7.32 to finish third in the women's 60-meter final. Greaves - already an NCAA automatic qualifier at the distance - clocked 7.37 in the preliminaries, which was the seventh-fastest effort among collegiates, and the 13th-best time overall in the qualifying round.

Dorr got things started in the day's first event - the women's 400-meters. Coming up dead even with at least three members of her heat at the break, Dorr managed to fight back after pile up at the 200-meter mark, leading the field over the final lap to win her section in 53.51 despite the stumble. Dorr's performance was the seventh fastest on the afternoon in a field of nearly 100 competitors in the event.

Junior Elizabeth Kearins (Doylestown, Pa.) competed in the invitational section of the women's 800-meters, posting a 15th-place effort with a finishing time 2:12.60. Other invitational competitors included junior Bianca Fung (New Babylon, N.Y.), who placed 19th in the women's long jump.

Action picks up again tomorrow at 12 p.m. CST, with Lions scheduled to compete in the pole vault, triple jump, and high jump competitions.
