UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the fifth time this season. She is joined by Michigan's Natalie Beilstein and Michigan State's Shanthi Teike, who were named Co-Freshmen of the Week.
This is the 14th honor of Personett's career. On Saturday, Personett guided the Nittany Lions to a 195.950-194.925 victory against West Virginia. Personett won three individual titles, as well as taking top honors in the all-around. Personett finished first on vault with a 9.950, beam with a 9.925 and floor with a 9.950. Her score of 39.700 in the all-around was a career-best. She also earned a second place finish on bars where she scored a 9.875. The senior has won the floor title in all seven meets this season and the all-around five times.
What's Next?
The Nittany Lions are back in action on Saturday, February 27 at Ohio State. Meet action is set for 4 p.m. Penn State returns home on March 7 to host a quad meet with Bridgeport, Maryland and Big Ten foe Michigan.
