After three days and three rounds of golf in Rio Grande, P.R., the women's golf team finished with a score of 961 (319-320-322). This gave them a 16th place finish in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Purdue.

Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) put together a team-best score of 228 (77-79-72) through three rounds, leaving her in a tie for 28th place. Her third round score of 72 was just one stroke off of her career high, recorded earlier this season at the Nittany Lion Invitational. Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) followed Ransone with a 239 (76-80-83). She finished in a tie for 64th place.

Junior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) had a final score of 244, while freshman Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) recorded a mark of 252 and senior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) shot a 269.

The University of Alabama won the Lady Puerto Rico Classic with a final score of 872 (295-287-290), just eight over par. The host Purdue Boilermakers came in second with a score of 883. Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State was the tournament champion putting together rounds of 74-65-70 (209), seven under par.

The Nittany Lions will have a short break to prepare for the Rio Verde Collegiate, hosted by Western Michigan. The tournament, which will be held in Arizona, will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 5, 6 and 7.
