UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 38th annual Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon wrapped up on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Bryce Jordan Center. Numerous Nittany Lion student-athletes representing the Penn State Student Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) were among the hundreds of dancers and volunteers that helped make THON 2010 the most successful thus far, raising a record breaking $7,838,054.36 for The Four Diamonds Fund.

After raising more than $44,000 in 2009, SAAB beat last year's amount bringing in $64,116.17 to add to rank fourth among all independent organizations. The group, also known as THONletes, has now contributed more than $250,000 in the past seven years through various fundraising efforts such as solicitation letters and canning before athletic events.

Four student-athletes represented SAAB as dancers, including Lindsay Cullen (Women's Golf - Allen, Texas), Jen Miller (Field Hockey - North Caldwell, N.J.), Lee Valigorsky (Women's Fencing - Dubois, Pa.) and Megan Monroig (Women's Soccer - Northumberland, Pa.). Four members of the Penn State Lionettes Dance Team were dancers, including Erin Zoch, Chelsea Dolchin, Kristen Fedeli and Alexandra Scott, as well as two Nittany Lion cheerleaders, Kylie Nellis and Derek Holman. Dancers were not allowed to sit or sleep during the 46-hour event.

Several other SAAB members were involved in THON as captains, who are in charge of committees integral to making the fundraising year and THON weekend a success. They included, Margo Josephs (Women's Lacrosse, Communications - Reisterstown, Md.), Nicole Bautz (Lionettes, Entertainment), Leah Rosenfeld (Cross Country, Finance/Fundraising - Ridgefield, Conn.) and Maria Valderas (Women's Lacrosse, Family Relations - Catonsville, Md.).
