UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -
The women's golf team will participate in the Low Country Intercollegiate this weekend. The tournament, which takes place in Hilton Head, S.C., will consist of two rounds at the Moss Creek Golf Club and is hosted by Western Carolina and Wofford. The Nittany Lions come to the tournament after a 15th place finish at the Rio Verde Collegiate last weekend.
"We are looking forward to playing again," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "We really are very close to putting four scores together and having this chance after a few days of practice will be important for our confidence."
Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) has an average of 79.1 strokes-per-round this year, playing in every round thus far for the Nittany Lions. Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) brings her team leading average of 77.3 strokes to this weekend tournament. Freshman Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) will also start for the team.
The tournament will consist of 14 teams, with four of those teams ranked in the top 100 by GolfStat. Penn State is the only Big Ten team that will be participating in the tournament. The Low Country Intercollegiate will be decided in two rounds. The first round will take place on Saturday, March 13, with the second and final round being played on Sunday, March 14.
