CLEARWATER, Fla. -- A revised schedule has been announced by the USF Under Armour Showcase affecting the Penn State softball team's schedule for the remainder of the weekend. The Nittany Lions will play two games each on Saturday and Sunday starting with a 4:15 p.m. split doubleheader vs. Kennesaw State and Southern Illinois.
Penn State's games originally scheduled for Friday against Stony Brook and Toledo are officially canceled. In addition, a game against Middle Tennessee State originally scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m. has also been canceled. A newly revised schedule has been released, allowing Penn State to play four games the remainder of the weekend starting Saturday afternoon at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater.
The Nittany Lions will face Kennesaw State at 4:15 p.m. on Field No. 1 with live video streaming and GameTracker live stats access. Following the matchup against the KSU Owls, Penn State will see Southern Illinois at 6:30 p.m. on the same field. PSU was supposed to play KSU on Sunday morning and the SIU game was originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Penn State will have a rematch against Florida Gulf Coast at 9:00 a.m. PSU defeated the FGCU Eagles last Friday, in its second game of the USF Under Armour Invitational, by a score of 4-3. That game is scheduled to play on Field No. 4 and will be immediately followed by a matchup with the Boston College Eagles at 11:15 a.m. Penn State was not originally scheduled to play the BC Eagles, but schedule makers of the USF Showcase were able to accommodate both teams with their flight schedules and respective availability.
