UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshman Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, conference officials announced. This is the eighth honor for the Nittany Lions this season. Senior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been the gymnast of the week five times and Musser was the freshman of the week on Feb. 15 and both the Freshman of the Week and Gymnast of the Week on March 8.
Musser was one of Penn State's top performers on Saturday, March 20 in its 195.575-196.200 loss to then No. 12 Nebraska. She led the lions with two individual event titles and a second place finish in the all-around. Musser earned top honors for the third time this season on vault with a 9.950 and her fifth on bars scoring a 9.900. She also scored a personal-best 9.850 on floor to take third finishing in the top five for the first time in 2010. Musser scored a 38.950 in the all-around and also turned in a ninth place finish on beam with a 9.250.

The Nittany Lions travel to Columbus, Ohio on March 27 for the 2010 Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships hosted by Ohio State. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
