Alden Sets Sights on 2010 NCAA Championships Starting Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Sophomore freestyle swimmer Brian Alden (Lansdale, Pa.) will compete in his second NCAA Championships starting Thursday at McCorkle Pavilion starting Thursday. Alden is Penn State's lone representative as he will compete in three events.

On Thursday, Alden will take part in his strongest event, the 50 freestyle. The preliminaries are set to begin at Noon and the 50 free is the fourth event of the afternoon. Alden is seeded tied-21st on the psych sheet with a time of 19.78.

For Friday, Alden will compete in his longest event, the 200 freestyle, again the fourth preliminary event of the day. Alden's seed is 22nd in the 200 free with a time of 1:35.49.

On Saturday, the sophomore freestyle specialist will participate in his final event of the championships, the 100 freestyle. Alden is seeded 43rd with a time of 43.84 in the 100 free, the second event on Saturday.

If Alden qualifies for the finals of any of his events, those finals will take place after 7:00 p.m. on the respective event's day of competition.
