Bentley Named to Full Court Press Freshman All-American Third Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Penn State Lady Lion guard Alex Bentley (Indianapolis, Ind.) capped a solid freshman season by being named to the Full Court Press Freshman All-American third team. She is one of 15 players selected to the Freshman All-American squad and one of only two Big Ten players to earn the honor (Iowa's Jamie Printy).

Bentley led the Lady Lions and was fourth in the Big Ten with a 4.03 assist average on the way to third team All-Big Ten honors and a unanimous berth on the Big Ten All-Freshman team. She was also second on the team in scoring at an 11.8 per game clip. Bentley finished among the Big Ten leaders in assists, scoring (17th; 11.8), field goal percentage (10th; .445), steals (15th; 1.58) and assist-to-turnover ratio (7th; 1.47).

The Indianapolis, Ind. native etched her name into the Lady Lion record books, finishing sixth on the freshman scoring list (365 pts.) and fifth on the rookie assists chart (125 assists). She tallied 21 double-digit scoring performances in her rookie campaign, including three 20-point games. Bentley was also selected as the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week for the week-ending Jan. 18.
