UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Five Penn State fencers faired very well at the 2010 North American Cup this past weekend in Virginia Beach, Va. Three of head coach Emmanuil Kaidanov's fencers earned runner-up medals as Penn State continued to flourish after its second straight NCAA Championship in late March.
Doris Willette (Lafayette, Calif.) took second in the women's foil, younger brother David Willette (Lafayette, Calif.) took second in the men's foil and Aleksander Ochocki (Clark, N.J.) finished second in the men's saber.
The trio of Nittany Lion finalists was joined on the podium by Daniel Gomez Tanamachi (Mexico City, Mexico), who finished third in the men's foil. Miles Chamley-Watson (Philadelphia, Pa.) also had a strong tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals in the men's foil.
