LYNCHBURG, Va.: April 2, 2010 - With five decathlon events in the books at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational, sophomore Anya Uzoh (Laurel, Md.) stands second in the overall standings, Friday at Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex. Uzoh's day one total of 3708 is tops among collegiates, and just 10 points out of first place.

The sophomore began the day running 11.27 for the 100-meters - the best time in the field, and worth 1127 points. Uzoh then earned another 807 points with a leap of 22-10.50 (6.97), also the top mark of the day. He tallied another 525 points with a toss of 34-11.75 (10.66) in the shot put, before clearing a personal-outdoor best 6-03.50 (1.92) in the high jump - worth 731. Uzoh closed out the afternoon with a performance of 49.37 in the 400-meters, adding 844 more points to his score.

The decathlon continues Saturday morning, with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500-meters remaining.
