BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - Three with Penn State field hockey ties are in Argentina this week to participate in the U19 Women Argentina Tour. Head coach Charlene Morett is an assistant coach while two incoming freshmen - Brittay Grzywacz (Collegeville, Pa.) and Lauren Purvis (Maple Glen, Pa.) - are competing as well. Rising sophomore Kelsey Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa.) was also invited, but is not participating due to her academic schedule. Two days into the tour, the U.S. is 1-1 with Grzywacz and Purvis scoring both of the team's goals.

The week features games against a number of club teams from Argentina. The squad opened play on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Argentina U18. Grzywacz and Purvis scored the goals to account for the team's scoring. Grzywacz started a rally off a penalty corner in the 60th minute to even the score at one while Purvis netted the game-winner with under six minutes remaining. She took a pass from Jill Witmer, came into the circle and found the far inside corner of the cage.

Team USA played its second game on Wednesday, losing to the same squad by a 3-0 final. The team rounds out play with a game against G.E.B.A. U18 on Thursday and Ganfield U18 on Saturday.

"Despite some nervous jitters during the initial minutes, the team gave a great effort and rallied back after being down 1-0 at the half," said Kim Goh and Shannon McSweeney on their USA Field Hockey Blog. "Our first goal came off a penalty corner with Brit Grzywacz scoring on a beautiful drag flick, and the second goal followed a great forward breakaway when Lauren Purvis finally sent the ball to net. Overall, we were very happy with this first performance."
