Henneghan and Mackrides Earn First Team All-CAA Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The six-team Colonial Athletic Association handed out its post-season awards recently, honoring the league's players on three post-season teams. Penn State senior Charley Henneghan (Beverly Hills, Mich.) and sophomore Matthew Mackrides (Newtown Square, Pa.) were both named to the All-CAA First Team.

Henneghan, the league's first team face-off specialist, led the league (and was among the nation's best) in face-off percentage with a .600 average, winning 90 of 150 starts. The Michigan native had one assist this year, led Penn State with 47 ground balls and leaves Penn State with 17 points off 10 goals and seven assists and a .587 face-off percentage (179 of 305).

Mackrides, one of three first team attackers, led Penn State in scoring with 36 goals and eight assists for a team-best 44 points. His goal and point totals were among the conference's leaders and he had a .605 shot-on-goal percentage. He also had 43 ground balls. Mackrides will head into his junior year with 51 goals and 21 assists for 72 points.

Three Nittany Lions earned second team All-CAA honors. Junior middie Chris Hogan (Wyckoff, N.J.) had 24 points this year off 15 goals and nine assists with 31 ground balls. Junior defender Matt Bernier (Drexel Hill, Pa.) started 12 games this year (missing the last with an injury) and scored his first career goal as well. Freshman Nick Dolik (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) was third on the team in scoring with 27 points off 21 goals and six assists and was named CAA Rookie of the Week once as well.

Dolik was also named to the CAA's All-Rookie team and he was joined on the squad by classmate Billy Gribbin (Rockville, Md.). Gribbin was second on the team in scoring with 31 points off 23 goals and eight assists. He also collected 31 ground balls and was CAA Rookie of the Week once.
