UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Penn State women's tennis coach Dawna Denny announced the addition of Marie-Frederique Bedard to the 2010 roster today. Bedard is a native of Montreal, Quebec and will begin playing this fall.
"We are excited to welcome Marie to the Penn State family," said Denny. "She is a fantastic addition to our program and I look for her to make an immediate impact in our lineup as well as in the classroom."
Bedard, who graduated with honors at College Sainte-Anne de Lachine, finished her junior career ranked in the Top 300 of the Junior International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Bedard was ranked in the top 10 U18 division in the last three years. Last season, she was ranked first in Quebec and was most recently ranked third this year in the province. This winter, Bedard finished eighth at Nationals in singles and second in doubles. Bedard has made semifinal appearances in ITF tournaments in Trinidad and Aruba within the last year and also participated in the WTA's Challenge Bell in September 2009.
