Soccer America Top 25

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Penn State women's soccer team (1-0-0) stayed put at 11th in the Soccer America poll released on Monday.

The Nittany Lions, coming off a dramatic 2-1 overtime win at West Virginia, are 11th in the Top 25 poll, which saw little in the way of movement. North Carolina moved up to No. 1 in the poll, while Stanford moved down a spot to second. This Friday's opponent, Virginia, is ranked seventh after two dominating wins, 4-0 over Liberty and 6-0 over Colgate.

PSU's Sept. 12 opponent Portland is third, while Notre Dame, UCLA, and Boston College finish off the first six teams in the poll. Virginia, Florida State, Texas A&M and Santa Clara round out the Top 10 before Penn State.

The Nittany Lions host the Cavaliers at Jeffrey Field on Friday for the second game of the Penn State Invitational at 7:30 p.m. The first game will feature Connecticut vs. William & Mary at 5:00 p.m.

Penn State athletics is gathering a broad marketing push for Friday's game to achieve the largest crowd ever to attend a women's soccer game at Jeffrey. The goal for the match is 4,500. All soccer games at Jeffrey Field are free of charge as is parking.
