UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The head coaches of Penn State's soccer teams, Erica Walsh and Bob Warming, will co-host a free youth clinic and team autograph session on Sunday, Aug. 22. The event will take place at Little Jeffrey Field after the women's soccer Blue-White scrimmage.
The free clinic event will be a formal time for fans and youths of all ages to meet the team and learn instruction from two of the foremost coaches in college soccer. The Penn State women's team is set for a Blue-White intrasquad scrimmage at 1:00 p.m. before joining forces with the men's team at Little Jeffrey Field, which is located south of Jeffrey Field. The men's team takes on Hartwick in an exhibition on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
The event hosted by Walsh and Warming will see the assistants from each side as well as student-athletes. Walsh is in her fourth year at Penn State and is assisted by Ann Cook (fourth year), Michael Coll (seventh year) and Tim Wassell (first year). Jason Mims (first year) and Isang Jacob (second year) assist Warming with the men's team.
Parents bringing their children to the clinic are asked to contact the soccer team by emailing psusoccer@gmail.com to reserve a spot. Please include the child's name and age in the email. When attending the event, wear a uniform and bring a soccer ball.
After the free clinic takes place, fans will have the opportunity to obtain autographs from members of the Penn State soccer teams. Everything at the clinic is free, including parking, and is a great experience for fans to get to know the Penn State soccer squads prior to the exciting 2010 seasons. Both squads reached the NCAA Tournament last year. The women's team captured its 12th straight Big Ten title in 2009, while the men made a run at the Big Ten with a second place finish in reaching the Big Ten title game.
