Penn State Women's Golf Team Finishes Day One of Lady Northern

Lady Northern Day One Results

Following one day and two rounds at the Lady Northern Invitational in Glencoe, Ill., the Penn State women's golf team is currently in ninth place. At the tournament, hosted by Northwestern, the women's golf team put together a 603 (301-302) for a 27-over par. The 603 is the sixth-best two-round score in school history.

Senior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) led the Nittany Lions with a 150 (77-73). The 6-over-par 150 was good for a tie for 27th place. Sophomore Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) followed one stroke behind Fanelli with 151 (73-78). This left her in a tie for 33rd place. Sophomore Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) also stuck close to Fanelli and Ransone with a 152 (76-76) and a tie for 36th place.

Freshman Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) carded a 153 (75-78) for a 9-over-par. She finished just behind Seo with a tie for 39th place. Senior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) rounded out the field for Penn State as she notched a score of 158 (+14). Freshman Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) competed as an individual.

Big Ten rival Purdue currently leads the tournament as they put together a two-round score of 572 (280-292) for a 4-under-par. Lauren Weaver of Northwestern and Lindsay Gahm of Indiana are currently in a tie for first place as they both carded a score of 139 (-5) through two rounds.

The third and final round of the Lady Northern will be played tomorrow, Oct. 12. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m.
