UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team will be the top-seed at the 2011 Virginia Duals this weekend in Hampton, Va. Head coach Cael Sanderson and the Nittany Lions will open up the dual meet tournament against The Virginia Military Institute on Friday at 9 a.m. A full set of match notes will be released later this week.

The Nittany Lions' half of the bracket features top-seed Penn State, fourth-seed Kent State, fifth-seed Arizona State and eighth-seed Edinboro. First round match-ups on the top half of the bracket include Penn State vs. VMI, Edinboro vs. Old Dominion. The winner of the Penn State VMI dual faces the winner of this match-up at 1 p.m. on Friday while the two losers will meet in the first round of consolations, also at 1 p.m. Arizona State faces UT-Chattanooga and Kent State meets Rider, also at 9 a.m.

The bottom half of the 16-team bracket has its matches at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday. Second-seed Lehigh meets UNC-Greensboro and seventh-seed Wyoming meets Bucknell (with winners and losers meeting). Third-seed Michigan takes on Liberty and sixth-seed Virginia meets Buffalo (with winners and losers meeting).

TheMat.com/USA Wrestling will provide up to four feeds of live video coverage continuously through the Virginia Duals. Wrestling coverage will begin via Ustream.tv, the Virginia Duals site and TheMat.com on Friday morning at 9 a.m. with two bouts from the National College Division and two from the National H.S. Division. USA Wrestling's Jason Bryant will be on the call along with guests from around the country, including Earl Smith of D1CollegeWrestling.net, who helped anchor the webcast last year.

The Virginia Duals will take place on Jan. 7-8 at the Hampton Coliseum. Penn State's next home dual is a nationally televised match-up with No. 21 Pittsburgh on Jan. 21. Action in the Big Ten Network live event begins at 6 p.m. in Rec Hall. Fans wishing to purchase single dual meet tickets for the 2010-11 Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling season can place their orders by calling 814-865-5555 or visit the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket pricing is $8 for adults and $5 for youth, and there will be a limit of eight tickets per order. Group sales are also available.
