UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 14 Penn State women's gymnastics team opens the 2011 season at No. 2 Alabama on Friday, Jan. 7. Meet action is set for 8:30 p.m. ET at Alabama's Coleman Coliseum.

The Nittany Lions are 2-28 all-time against the Crimson Tide. Penn State hosted Alabama on Jan. 30, 2010. The Crimson Tide won the meet with a score of 196.600, while the Nittany Lions took second with a 196.025. Minnesota placed third in the meet with a team score of 192.850. Penn State's first win against the Crimson Tide came in 1999. The Nittany Lions earned a one-point victory against Alabama with a score of 197.025-196.025. Penn State secured its second win against the Tide in 2009 in a tri-meet with Ohio State. The Nittany Lions scored a 196.650 for first place and Alabama took second with a 196.625.
