The new scoreboard at Nittany Lion Softball Park was installed on Thursday, Mar. 3. Also set to be installed this week is the new video board. Seating for the entire park is installed and the coaches moved into their respective offices as well.
GoPSUsports.com visited Nittany Lion Softball Park on Feb. 16 as construction crews were installing the seating at the stadium. Also included in the most recent photo gallery are photos from inside the facility highlighting hospitality areas, coaches offices, training rooms as well as the clubhouse, player lounge and batting tunnels as part of the substantial completion achieved that week.
Most of the work on the stadium has moved indoors during the winter months as all the glass paneling, doors and other fixtures are in place. Outside the stadium, the railings have been put up and dugouts painted and will be completed shortly. The coaches are set to move into the park Feb. 21 and the team will occupy the building in the near future.
Main preparation outside the stadium, including parking lots, landscaping and entrance way work, have nearly been completed. The final light stanchions on the first-base side were put up in late October.
The brickwork and concrete laying began in late September and continued into October. The fencing around the field has also been completed and HVAC work around the park has begun as well. Work on the press box behind home plate began in September as well with steel and bricks going up.
In September, sod has been laid down on the field and the main building has been closed. Masonry work on the building will begin shortly, while the construction of the press box has begun. The stadium has really begun to take shape.
The Aug. 17 update includes the formation of the bullpens, outdoor batting cages and field maintenance.
Updates from July 26 and 27, where the new lighting system was installed. The playing surface, Beard Field, was leveled out, the dugouts are visible and construction on the main structure to the team facility is still being worked on.
