PINEHURST, North Carolina - After two rounds of play at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in North Carolina, the Penn State men's golf team sits tied for fifth place with Eastern Michigan, carding a two-round total of 594 (293-301). The Nittany Lions are nine strokes behind first place UNC Wilmington.
Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) continues to lead Penn State with rounds of 70-75. Tied for eighth, Howe will go into the third round four strokes behind Eastern Michigan's Casey Olsen who is currently in first place.
Sophomore Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, WVa.) improved play between rounds by four strokes, shooting rounds of 77-73. Woodward shot three birdies and five bogeys in the second round to place him tied for 35, climbing 12 places from the first round.
Sophomores Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) and Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) are tied for 46 with rounds of 72-80 and 74-78 (152), respectively. Senior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) rounds out the Nittany Lion lineup with rounds of 79-75 (154), placing him tied for 55.
Individual player, sophomore Matthew Porter (Cortland, N.Y.), sits tied for 85, carding rounds of 77-86 (163).
