C & F Bank Invitational Notes

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following a fifth place finish at the Rio Verde Invitational, the women's golf team will head to Williamsburg, Va., for the C & F Bank Invitational, hosted by William and Mary. The tournament be played from Sat.-Sun., March 19-20, and will consist of 36 holes, 18 each day.

"We are looking forward to the tournament and hope to stay in the top third of the field," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "If you manage your game here you can score. The team has been doing an excellent job preparing for the golf course and competition."

Penn State will keep the same lineup after a good outing at the Rio Verde Invitational. Sophomore Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) is coming off of her third top 10 finish of the season, with an eighth place at the Rio Verde. She holds a team-leading 75.6 strokes-per-round average. Sophomore Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) holds the second-best average with a 76.9.

Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) is again the only senior starter in the lineup, bringing a 77.6 average and a fourth place finish at the Cincinnati Fall Classic this season. Two freshmen, Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) and Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.), will each make their second straight appearance in the starting lineup. Senior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) will compete as an individual.

The tournament will consist of 19 teams, which includes two teams from William and Mary. Penn State is the only team from the Big Ten. The tournament will be played on the par 72, 6,050-yard Blackheath Course at Ford's Colony Resort.
