The Penn State women's golf team is currently in 11th place at the Big Ten Championships after a severe thunderstorm suspended the second round of play. Following one round of play at the tournament hosted by Northwestern, the Nittany Lions carded a team score of a 33-over-par 321.
The team is currently through 13-18 holes in the second round and is at 60-over-par. Second round play will resume at 9 a.m. CT tomorrow, with 16 groups left to finish.
Sophomore Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) and freshman Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) led the team through the first round. They each carded a 79 (+7), leaving them in a tie for 34th place. Freshman Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) followed one stroke behind those two, with an 80. She is in a tie for 40th.
Sophomore Hanule Seo (St. Louis Mo.) posted a first round score of 83 (+11) and found herself tied for 56th. Senior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) scored an 89 on the first day with senior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) following one stroke behind with a 90.
Last year's champion Purdue was tied with Wisconsin for the team lead after one round. The teams each notched scores of 303 (+15). Northwestern's Lauren Weaver was 1-under-par through the first round. She led all individuals with a score of 71.
The third round of play is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. CT, tomorrow, April 23. The fourth and final round will be played Sunday, April 24. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
