UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State golfer Hanule "Sky" Seo has qualified to compete in the 2011 Women's Amateur Public Links Championship hosted in Bandon, Ore. The tournament will take place from Mon.-Sat., June 27-July 2. The tournament will be held in conjunction with the Men's Amateur Public Links Championship for the first time, with the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort playing host to both.

To qualify for the tournament, Seo carded a round of 78 at the Lake Forest Country Club in Lake St. Louis, Mo. Two other players also qualified from the Lake Forest Country Club. Seo is one of 312 total players competing at the resort, including the men's championship.

"I am very proud of Sky qualifying for the Public Links Championship," said head Penn State women's golf coach Denise St. Pierre.

"The Public Links Championship is traditionally one of the top amateur tournaments in the country. Equally impressive is they will be playing one of the top golf courses in the country. Sky has the game for this type of course and ability to compete among the best amateur players in the country."

According to the USGA website, the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links is open to women golfers who are bona fide public course players and have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4 and was first held in 1977.

Seo increased her playing time to 29 rounds as a sophomore. Her best finish of the 2010-11 season came at the Nittany Lion Invitational where she tied for 16th place. Seo had a season-best round of 74 four times and had the third best average on the team of players who competed in more than 20 rounds with a 78.5 average. She also was Penn State's Sportsmanship Award Honoree, recognized by the Big Ten.
