UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State field hockey team will be looking for its ninth straight victory on Tuesday as it travels to Easton, Pa. to take on the Lafayette Leopards for a 6 p.m. matchup. This will be the second game of what is a three-game road swing for the Nittany Lions.
Penn State picked up its eighth straight victory on Friday afternoon in a 6-2 winning effort over the Indiana Hoosiers. The Nittany Lions currently hold the program's longest winning streak since 2005, when that team strung together 17 straight wins.
Junior Kelsey Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa.) and sophomore Ashtin Klingler (Selinsgrove, Pa.) each scored two goals against Indiana. Sophomore Brittany Grzywacz (Collegeville, Pa.) and freshman Taylor Herold (Fredericksburg, Va.) also netted goals for Penn State. Junior Ayla Halus (Hershey, Pa.) made seven saves.
Lafayette is most recently coming off a 5-3 victory over Bucknell on Oct. 8. The Leopards have won their last three games, two coming against Patriot League opponents. Lafayette is 6-5 on the season and holds a 2-0 record in Patriot League play. Leading the way for the Leopards is Deanna DiCroce, who is the squad's top scorer with 17 points and seven goals. Mara Kish will make the start in goal, as she has posted a 1.78 GAA this season.
Penn State holds a 15-2 all-time advantage over the Leopards in the 17 games these two teams have played. Penn State won last year's matchup in Happy Valley by a score of 3-0. Lafayette won the last matchup that was played in Easton back in 2009, carrying out a 1-0 overtime victory.
Penn State will close out its three-game road trip when it travels to Michigan on this Sunday.
