UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's golf team will head to Carmel, Ind., to compete in the two-day Hoosier Fall Invitational, beginning Monday (Oct. 17). Hosted by Indiana, the 54-hole tournament will be held on the par-72, 6,030-yard Crooked Stick Golf Course. There will be 13 teams competing, including three other Big Ten schools in Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska. Each team will play five golfers and count four scores.
"We are excited to head back to Indiana at this venue," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "Crooked Stick is an old historic country club course that has played host to many prestigious championships. We look forward to getting another opportunity to play with some of the best teams in the Big Ten and Midwest."
Penn State will send five starters and one individual to the tournament. Sophomore Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) has participated in all 10 rounds this season and has averaged 75.8 strokes-per-round. Freshmen Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) and Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) have also competed in all 10 rounds this season for the Nittany Lions and will be in the starting lineup. Elliott is third on the team with an average of 76.6 strokes-per-round. Classmate Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) will join Archambault and Elliott in the starting lineup.
Junior Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) will be the only junior starter, and freshman Catherine Herrera (Houston, Texas) will be competing as an individual.
"Although we have a young squad representing us, we feel confident going into this last fall tournament," said St. Pierre. "We hope to finish the fall on top which will give us momentum that we can carry us to our first spring tournament in Puerto Rico."
The tournament will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, with 36-holes to be played on the first day. The final round will take place on Tuesday (Oct. 18), also beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
