PARK RIDGE, Ill. - For the second time this season, Penn State freshman midfielder Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.) has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Gebhart tallied four points last week in big wins over Bucknell and Michigan State. Gebhart is Penn State's fourth freshman of the week winner this season.
Gebhart had a game-high five shots against Bucknell last Tuesday and eventually scored a goal in the 3-1 victory over the Bison. In Penn State's 4-1 win over Michigan State on Sunday, Gebhart scored a goal in her second-straight game.
Penn State hosts Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday at 2:30.
Penn State hosts the 2011 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament from Nov. 3-6. Tickets for the Big Ten Tournament can be purchased by contacting the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office at 814-865-5555. All session passes are $18 for adults and $12 for students/senior citizens. Single session tickets will run at $8 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens. Groups of 15 people or more may also purchase tickets at $12 for all session passes and $5 for a single session.
