FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. - At the concluding tournament of its fall schedule, the Penn State men's golf team takes 14th at the Amelia National Intercollegiate co-hosted by North Florida and Georgia Southern at the par-72, 7,166-yard Amelia National Golf and Country Club.
The Nittany Lions finished with a three-round total of 919 (298-301-320), 76 strokes behind first-place North Florida. The North Florida Ospreys shot a team total of 843 (279-278-286) to seal the first place finish 10 strokes ahead of second-place Texas A&M.
Finishing on top for Penn State are juniors Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W.Va.) and Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) who posted scores of 230 a piece. Fallings nine strokes behind the duo, sophomore Shane Stewart (Dublin, Ohio) carded his tournament best of 76 in the third round to conclude 70th with a score of 239 (86-77-76). Senior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) finished with rounds of 74-84-82 (240) to tie for 71.
Junior Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) suffered a wrist injury in the final round and therefore was forced to withdrawal from the tournament.
